Life Story for Daniel Leonard Murray

Daniel Leonard Murray
The Reverend Daniel L. Murray, beloved man of God, born May 6, 1936, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 31, 2018, surrounded by his family. Daniel was raised in San Pedro, California, along with his older brother Neville and twin brother David by his mother Marie Murray. In his early teens the family moved to Yuma, Arizona. Dan went to college at Northern Arizona University. He then served in the United States Navy, upon his return to Yuma he met and married Ida, his beloved wife of 60 years. He began a career in banking operations at First National Bank of Arizona and transferred his young family, daughters Pat and Annette, to Newport Beach, California, in 1967, working for United California Bank. The following year the family was blessed with the addition of a son Daniel Jr. United California Bank later became First Interstate, where he had a successful career until his retirement. During this time he completed his undergraduate degrees through Chapman University, as well as extensive work in Biblical Studies becoming an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He spent most of his life working in churches in various roles, and followed his calling into the ministry, ultimately becoming the Pastor of Harvest Valley Christian Center in Homeland, CA. Dan was an "official" Pastor for several years, but was an ambassador for Christ all of his life. He loved to study the word of God and particularly loved to study anything related to end times prophecy.
During his children's growing up years, Daniel (Dad) played sports with all the neighborhood, so much so, that the neighbor kids would come to the door asking my Mom, "Can your brother come out and play"? He constantly amazed us with his energy and zest for life, from walking into Christmas Dinner in a hand stand, to jumping out of trees into a pile of leaves dressed as a superhero, and playing prince to Maddy's princess. He also became quite the handyman in his retirement, building fences, fixing plumbing, patching, painting, and never passed by a weed that he didn’t pull.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Marie Murray and brother Junius Neville Murray. He is survived by his wife, Ida Murray; his daughter, Patricia F. Couevas married to James Couevas, his daughter, Annette J. Greenwood married to Cliff Greenwood, his son, Daniel L. Murray married to Karen Murray; and his grandchildren who loved their Pop dearly, Sean, Jennifer, Joshua, Nick, Trent and Madison; step-grandchildren, Zachary, Chris, Sean and Tim; and his twin brother David L. Murray who currently resides in Yuma, Arizona.

Services will be held at McWane Family on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at 10:00 and followed by a private graveside ceremony.
