Mary Guadalupe Zamudio age 89 of San Jacinto CA, went to be with the LORD from Loma Linda Hospital August 11, 2013, Mary was born in Hatly TX, March 22, 1924 while on a family outing from the family farm in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico. Mary was one of 13 Children of Desiderio & Francesca Mares. The Mares’ moved to the San Jacinto Valley in the 1930’s where her Father and brothers came to farm in a valley that bloomed with a mix of agricultural crops.
Mary graduated from Hemet High School in 1943. She found work in the war effort, and then returned to San Jacinto where she met and married Miguel A. Zamudio February 2, 1947. They raised four boys who attended St. Hyacinth’s Academy to obtain a good Catholic education. Mary always dressed properly and expected proper manners in her boys Miguel, Desiderio, David, and Ricardo. She was proud of her boys; a soldier, a scientist, a minister & poet, and a doctor. Though few her grandchildren were her vested interest. Mary instilled the values of community service which she exemplified by her community involvement she implemented the 1968 (235 I) HUD housing program in Riverside County. Mary is survived by her husband, Miguel A. Zamudio, and Sons Miguel (Kathryn) of Colorado Springs, CO; Desiderio (Karen) of Lakeview, OR; David of San Jacinto, CA; and Ricardo (Carolene) of Mineral City, OH; grandchildren Antonio & Peter; Brooke, Melanie & Eric her sisters Katie Harmon of Nashua N.H.; and Eva Macias of Vista, CA. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Mary to St. Hyacinth’s Academy in San Jacinto, CA.
