Life Story for Vance Johnsen Millhouse

Vance Johnsen Millhouse passed away on November 24, 2018, at Hemet Valley Medical Center. Vance was born June 12, 1932, in Gettysburg, South Dakota before moving to Southern California with his family as a child.

Vance worked for nearly 30 years as a union carpenter after serving in the United States Air Force at March Air Force Base during the Korean War and playing baseball for the Visalia Cubs.

As a mechanic for the Air Force, Vance worked on various planes including B-29s and B-47s. He deployed with his wing to the Royal Air Force Brize Norton outside of London from June to September of 1954. During his years as a baseball player, Vance had played alongside or against the likes of legends such as Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and Duke Snider.

Married for over 45 years to his wife Eleanor, the two traveled all over North America after his retirement from carpentry. Eventually, they settled down in Hemet, California before Eleanor passed away in 1997. Vance lived on for 21 more years, spending his remaining years with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Elsie Millhouse, and his sisters, Marvel and Mariel. Vance is survived by his daughter Carol (Jesse) Anaya, his son Raymond Millhouse, and his two grandsons Christopher Anaya and Daniel Millhouse. The Millhouse family have decided to remember Vance privately and want to thank those who respect their wishes.
